Battle of Life
If I had known that life was a battle ground,
I would have prepared myself hard for it.
Had I gotten a hint the war trumpet would sound,
I would not have folded my arms, and seat.
If I had seen life as the knock-out round,
I would have brought my best to avoid defeat.
If I had been fore-told that I was war-bound,
I would have made ready my weapon and kit.
If all these clues had earlier being found,
I would have had on my armour, from head to feet.
But, I’m ready this time around,
I got my finger on my gun’s trigger.
I have my hand tightly on my sword’s grip.
My bow is prepared & arrows are in full supply.
I am mentally psyched up, and I am high.
I got my shield in front to defend every attack,
I’m ready to go, already seated on my horses’ back.
Let life bring it on now, I’m ready for the battle.
Life can bring forth his entire arsenal,
But it is certain that victory will be mine.
As I battle all the way, day by day,
I take Jesus’ advice to watch and pray.
I know if I fight in the flesh, I’ll fail,
Because by strength shall no man prevail.
I already have on the whole armour of God,
Along with sword of the spirit, which is his word.
Although I have acquired all my weapon to do the battle,
I know that the battle is not mine, but the Lord’s.
He will win the battle in glory, so I can tell the story,
Thanks be to God, who has given me the victory.
